MSc in Finance and Investment Management

The driving force of many economies, finance and investment management has never been more vital to free market trade and globalisation as it is now. With financial services accounting for 10.1% of the UK’s GDP in 2007, the success of the economy is reliant on the unique and exceptional knowledge of global investment managers. 

The MSc in Finance and Investment Management provides students a deep understanding of global financial industries as a whole. Areas covered by this unique, specialised degree include equity investment, fixed income investment, corporate finance, portfolio management, derivatives, and economics giving students the tools to succeed in this competitive and lucrative industry.

The MSc in Finance and Investment Management will provide students hands-on experience of trading in financial markets with our state of the art IT laboratories, equipped with Reuters and Bloomberg terminals.

The programme is composed of 10 compulsory modules and a Management to be completed in a period of 12 months on a full-time basis, or 24 months on a part-time basis.

The 10 compulsory modules are:

•    Corporate Finance
•    Analysis of Financial Reporting
•    Quantitative Methods in Investment Management
•    Economics Analysis
•    Portfolio Management
•    Equity Investment
•    Fixed Income Analysis
•    Derivatives Application
•    Advanced Financial Modelling
•    International Financial Market


In the first semester, students will focus on general knowledge of corporate finance, financial accounting, quantitative method and economics.

The second semester will consider the specific classes of investment of fixed income, equity, derivatives and portfolio management.

This degree is also be available with the Certificate in Global Financial Management, LSBF’s new and innovative programme giving students practical experience in the worlds most pioneering financial markets.
