Ten digital start-ups are to participate in a London-based technology accelerator launched by Virgin Media and Techstars.

The businesses, which are from locations around the world, will take part in the programme in Aldgate East, London.

Opportunities

Participants will receive mentoring and will also travel to Silicon Valley this week to meet with Google, Facebook, and research and development company Cable Labs, before returning to London.

There will also be a demo day, where the start-ups can pitch to investors to secure funding for their business. They will have the opportunity to receive up to £78,000 in funding in exchange for an equity stake in their business and convertible loan note.

Out of the ten tech start-ups taking part, four of them are based in the UK. They are smartphone repair company Repairly, software development company Stepsize, peer-to-peer content delivery company TelToo, and virtual reality exercise platform Wizdish.

Joining them are Polish home energy company Ecoisme, Italian football platform GoalShouter, Irish cloud-based platform KonnectAgain, Canadian app development company Synervoz, Canadian marketing services company Rally Networks and Germany-based social media collaboration company Sponsokit.

Support

Virgin Media Business Managing Director Peter Kelly commented on the accelerator, stating that it is a “true reflection” of what Virgin Media are all about and that the company is “passionate” about giving innovative businesses the support needed to reach their “full digital potential.”

“With the level of expertise backing this programme and the London location of the accelerator, these businesses are going to get the very best start to their entrepreneurial journey,” he said.
