Government launches online portal to help small businesses to export

A new online portal has been launched by the Government to provide small businesses in the UK with export opportunities.

The GREAT.gov.uk trade hub was set up by the Department of International Trade.

Services

The portal is part of a campaign to help an additional 10,000 businesses to export by 2020. It consists of an online directory which businesses can register for in order to access tools and services, such as guidance for new exporters, funding, and export opportunities.

The Government has partnered with major banks such as Lloyds, Barclays, Santander, HSBC and RBS. They will provide financial backing and advice.

Businesses can also access guides on trading with priority markets, including the US, China, India, and Germany.

Crucial

International Trade Secretary Liam Fox said: “Maximising the opportunities for international trade is not only in our best economic interests – it’s crucial to the UK’s future prosperity to ensure we’re building and maintaining an economy that works for everybody.”

He added that the Government wants to support UK businesses as they grow and help them connect with global demand to fulfil their greatest economic ambitions.
